The Buddha Lounge
The Buddha Lounge is one of my all time favourite restaurants. Last week we went there to celebrate my mother’s birthday Now I was so wrapped up in eating out and spending time with my family and J that I didn’t actually take any photos (silly me). Rest assured the food is delicious and beautifully presented and the staff cannot do enough for you. I … Continue reading The Buddha Lounge
When is an omelette a frittata?
This is a question I was pondering all day prior to cooking this dish. I didn’t get a definitive answer on this one. My boyfriend (J) said it was the presence of potatoes, a work friend said it was the egg to ingredient ratio and the chef boyfriend of my housemate said that frittata was served at room temperature while omelette was hot. Either way … Continue reading When is an omelette a frittata?
Tales of the last venison steak in the shop
From my previous Sunday night food post about beef steak you know I am a lover of lean meat and steak in general. Well somehow today what started out as a hankering to make a duck salad after watching Jamie Oliver ended up in me gleefully skipping down the Harrogate high street with the last venison steak in M&S. The thing is I got more … Continue reading Tales of the last venison steak in the shop
Oops
I suppose I am pretty lucky that Harrogate regularly has a street market which is decent and actually sells things I want to buy (cheese, salami, deli items). Well feeling sad when my boyfriend went home after visiting me I impulse bought a whole load of olives not really considering how big the box is. I’m not even sorry! Continue reading Oops
Steak out…or rather steak in
Sunday tea times were always a special time in my house. I was lucky enough to grow up in a family where we sat down together nearly every night and had home cooked food but Sundays were special. My parents would think up what to cook my brother and I and they would buy lovely meat from the butchers (sadly unappreciated by me during my … Continue reading Steak out…or rather steak in
The Damn Yankee
The Damn Yankee is a firm favourite with the people of Harrogate. It is an American and Tex Mex restaurant that offers a range of burgers, steaks and assorted items from the grill as well as Mexican style favourites such as chimichangas and burritos. The menu is pretty cheap, the food is tasty and they do a pretty good range of cocktails which makes them … Continue reading The Damn Yankee
Lunch of the week
Deli food is my favourite food to pick at or make a lunch or a picnic tea out of. Sunday afternoon after a busy long morning of cleaning I settled down to eat toasted seeded batch loaf with a selection of Marks and Spencer tapenades topped with parma ham. Blissful in front of a good film after a hard morning’s work. Continue reading Lunch of the week
Chicken and roast vegetable tray bake
I’ll admit it, I love a good casserole style meal; especially chicken casserole. Chicken casserole is something my maternal grandmother used to cook me when I was a little girl and even now I find it warming and delicious comfort food. Now this particular recipe is adapted from something a friend suggested I make a few weeks ago. Basically I adapted it based on the … Continue reading Chicken and roast vegetable tray bake
Wild mushroom, smoked garlic and butternut squash risotto
It would come as no surprise to people who have seen the rate at which I can shovel rice into my mouth, but I love it. In particular I love squidgy, carby risotto. Depending on the ingredients you use you can make it pretty healthy as well as being delicious (as long as you don’t add too much cheese). Personally, I found that once I’d … Continue reading Wild mushroom, smoked garlic and butternut squash risotto
An apology
To my followers. I feel like such a fraud, 5 posts in and I’m jetting off on holiday. Due to work commitments I have been coming in late and generally rushing around like a mad lady. Also due to rushing back from work and collapsing in a heap I was eating omlette and soup a couple of nights and I really didn’t think anybody needed a … Continue reading An apology
